When the War Veterans Organization asked her to be the Guest of Honor at their New Year's Eve Charity Ball at the Raleigh Theatre in New York City, she was happy to oblige. Entering on the arm of her father, Dr Marshall (himself a former captain in the Medical Corps), she was greeted by a standing ovation from the distinguished guests. Her speech poured from the heart, stirring the audience until handbags were opened for hankies, and wallets were opened for generous donations. "We have risen from the terrible winter of world war.
